The Chappell Great Lives Lecture Series, Jim Thorpe:

Kate Buford, author of “Native American Son: The Life and Sporting Legend of Jim Thorpe,” will speak on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in George Washington Hall, Dodd Auditorium for the Great Lives Lecture. Thorpe was a multi-sport athlete who became a national symbol as an ethnic outsider who overcame racial barriers in sports.

Let’s Go to Guantanamo! An On-the-Ground Perspective on the 9/11 Trial:

Human rights expert Lisa Hajjar will speak about the 9/11 trials on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. in Monroe Hall, Room 116. Hajjar will be speaking about the military commission trial for Khaled Sheikh Muhammad and four other men accused of responsibility for the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Poetry Reading:

Irish poet Michael O’Siadhail will give a poetry reading on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Hall, Room 411. O’Siadhail previously received The Marten Toonder Prize and The Irish American Culture Institute Prize for Literature. The poetry reading is free and open to the public.
