The construction work that has started of the university’s Jepson Science Center has recently caused a multitude of problems for students and faculty. Sections of College Avenue and the surrounding areas of Jepson are cloaked in industrial fabric and lined with construction cones. The renovations to the building and nearby areas are expected to continue for an approximated 18 to 24 months.

A central part of the University of Mary Washington’s identity as a college is its beautiful campus. Being located in a historic city and a relatively small town allows UMW to maintain its status as an aesthetically appealing campus.
Traffic on College Avenue will be delayed on Monday, Feb. 24 due to construction of the new Student Center. The delay will be caused by the delivery of the crane for the construction. The original delivery was going to take place on Feb. 19, but the winter weather pushed back the delivery.
The current construction at the University of Mary Washington Fredericksburg campus is progressing according to plan according to the UMW administration.
Four houses in the College Heights neighborhood will be demolished to create room for new parking, while the Campus Center is built in place of Chandler Hall this summer, as construction continues around the University of Mary Washington.
