The idea that the University of Mary Washington begin offering American Sign Language (ASL) courses through the Modern Language Department and have these courses count towards the Modern Language Requirement was mentioned during the University Faculty Committee meeting on February 28, 2018, however, it has not been made as a formal request at this time.

On Saturday Feb. 17, The University of Mary Washington men’s lacrosse team went face to face with Shenandoah University in their third game of the season. UMW improved to 2-1 after this exciting game at the Battleground Complex.

University of Mary Washington junior Ahad Shahid and friend Chad Mundie were walking past Lee Hall after watching the film “Moana” on the evening of Feb. 5, when they found a handwritten Swastika on the bulletin board in Front of Madison Hall. Eagle Nation Day hosted by University of Mary Washington athletics was filled with fun and free activities that allowed you to be on your feet and keep your mind active. Held on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., this event was to encourage kids to go out and play with UMW athletes and get active.

As college communities nationwide respond to a spate of recent school shootings, UMW Police Chief Mike Hall is working to improve safety on our UMW campus. The main focus of his plan includes the building of interactions between students and the police force. “There is always room for improvement when it comes to the safety of the community,” Hall said. “We are always looking for new ways to do things.”
