On November 18 at the Talley Ho theatre in Leesburg, Virginia, I sat down with the indie rock, northern Virginia band, Milo in the Doldrums. About two years ago Robert Mays, 28, began playing what would later become Milo songs solo at different open mics. He was soon joined by friends, one of which being current guitarist, Richard Smith, 22, to form a full band. This past Saturday afternoon it was warm and I was sitting outside eating with a friend when I found myself doing a double take at the person strolling by. Feathered Fish: a local band on the rise

The Feathered Fish are a four-piece band from Fredericksburg comprised of vocalist Jeremy Hankins, lead guitarist Johnny Ray Wolfe, bass guitarist Collin Hill and Lee LeGros on Drums. The band was formed in 2013 by Hankins and Wolfe, and since added Hill and LeGros. These Fred natives play original songs in a genre that they call Rock ‘n’ Reggae, a term they have coined to describe themselves.Read More

William Street parking lot sees rearrangements for residents and commuters

Many University of Mary Washington students struggle with the lack of available parking, but recently the university has taken steps to address this issue. Last fall parking management began taking steps to find more spaces for UMW students to park. Parking management noticed that the William Street lot often boasted around 50 empty spots, and decided to take action and allow for some UMW resident students to park there.
