A hot water pipe burst in room 507 of Eagle Landing at 9:50 a.m. on April 6, spraying the facilities worker that had come to address a work order, sending water throughout all five floors on the north side and displacing 112 students.

On campus, six residence halls have elevators along with those in the Eagle Landing Apartments, and students have reported getting stuck in some of these on multiple occasions.

The bike pump located by the University Center was taken away for repairs earlier in October. The university’s original goal was for the pump to be fixed and back at the University Center by the time students returned from fall break.

Near the start of the spring 2016 semester, students began to notice that paint on the underside of the grand staircase was beginning to flake off at the University of Mary Washington’s new University Center. The first sign of it was the white paint chips on the floor of the staircase.

Students this semester may have noticed something different about Ball Circle. A post-and- chain fence, which now wraps the outer edges of the lawn, was reinstalled by Facilities Services as a preventative measure to protect the lawn from damage the circle underwent last semester.

Students across the University of Mary Washington’s witnessed the first snowflakes of the long- anticipated Winter Storm Jonas, which began on Friday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. and lasted through early Sunday morning, dumping an estimated 18 inches of snow accumulation and ice, leaving campus closed Friday through Tuesday.
