All students at the University of Mary Washington know of the boulder used for announcements that sits outside of Woodard. “The rock,” is coated in layers and layers of paint. Students paint the rock for many of reasons, whether to announce the annual “Rocky Horror Picture Show” or to advertise a club meeting or event. Recently though, there has been some controversy over the rock and its message.

A six-page paper due next week, one take-home quiz to be completed tonight, and 30 pages of reading to get through before tomorrow. Every day of the week students have a lot on their plate. Finding ways to cope and manage the stress that comes with school can be difficult and time consuming. One proven way to alleviate stress and brighten people’s moods could come in the form of frequent therapy dog visits to campus, according to Dr. Tevya Zukor, director of the Talley Center.

After fall break on Wednesday evening, students crowded Campus Walk, all heading towards Jefferson Square to enjoy the warmth of the fire and the benefits of free food. The fire burned bright in the middle of the grass.

On Feb. 9, Relay For Life joined the Office of Student Activities and Engagement in hosting another successful Bingo Night. SAE attempts to have a reasonable amount of events available on campus for students each week. Every Tuesday night, Student Affairs hosts Bingo Night at the Underground where students can hang out, have fun and win prizes.
