Despite adversity, baseball off to strong start

The University of Mary Washington baseball team is off to a 9-5 start in their 2017 campaign. Last year, the team went 24-15 and was ranked as high as No. 12 in the nation. Fifth year head coach, Wayne Riser and the Eagles faced some adversity immediately coming into the season when a number of key players quit or ran into ineligibility, notably some pitchers on the team. Panel on media freedom sparks conversation on first amendment rights

Two exiled journalists from Turkey were invited to talk to the University of Mary Washington students at Monroe Hall on Wednesday night, regarding the dangers of media censorship. The panelists were Abdulhamit Bilici, Editor-in- Chief of the Turkish newspaper, Zaman Toda,y and Mahir Zeynalov, a Turkish journalist who was deported from Turkey for heavily covering government corruption and the Turkish coup of July 2016. They spoke about their personal accounts with national and governmental limitation of media freedoms.Read More
