Club Basketball is a huge part of the University of Mary Washington, especially for those who love basketball and want to play. The team has been to four tournaments so far, this year. Three players, Zachary Wohleking, Terrin Dickerson, and TJ Flood have a lot to say about their time on the team and the continuation of the club for the next coming year.

This past weekend, Mary Washington’s men’s club basketball team went 6-0 at a tournament hosted by Lynchburg College, winning the entire tournament and representing UMW with pride. With only half of the team able to attend, sophomore historic preservation major Brandon Martin initially thought the team would win only a few games, but credits the team’s hard work and each player’s individual contributions as the fueling force for their winning streak.

At 5:30 a.m., they hopped in their vehicles in Fredericksburg and headed north, hoping to beat the I-95 traffic and the crazy stop and go that Washington D.C. has to offer. As they arrived to what they thought was their destination, in the pouring down rain, they were told they were on the completely opposite side of campus from where they needed to be. This is the initial story of the travels of the University of Mary Washington men’s club basketball team.
