Greek Life gets ‘boulder’ with their methods of advertising

All students at the University of Mary Washington know of the boulder used for announcements that sits outside of Woodard. “The rock,” is coated in layers and layers of paint. Students paint the rock for many of reasons, whether to announce the annual “Rocky Horror Picture Show” or to advertise a club meeting or event. Sexual battery incident causes students to question campus safety

On Thursday, Nov. 16, a sexual battery took place on campus in the parking lot behind the Simpson Library and Pollard Hall around 3:35 pm. According to Marty Morrison in a school-wide email, a male wearing a black sweatshirt and blue sweat pants, approached a female student and grabbed her buttocks. After she confronted the male about the situation, he told her that he was joking with her and ran towards the direction of the Eagle’s Nest located in Woodard Hall.Read More

Mercer and Woodard Halls hold rededication ceremonies following massive renovations

With the student population increasing at the University of Mary Washington, a need for new academic buildings arose, and a plan to repurpose and expand on previously used buildings was set into place. Renovations around campus began in the spring of 2014 and continued until their completion in the fall of 2015. The university has a strong dedication to restoration and the preservation of its history, and the newly opened Woodard and Mercer Halls are examples of this.Read More

WMWC radio station gives out CDs on campus, raises club awareness

Unknown to much of the school population, UMW has a radio station called WMWC, which boasts a plethora of interesting and enjoyable programs. They recently have been doing free giveaways on campus walk to increase awareness of the club and de-clutter the station. The station was seen giving out free CDs on Oct. 12, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in front of Lee Hall and has similar events planned for the future.Read More
